Inaugural RGS Expedition and Fieldwork Festival

Planning and delivery of the inaugural Expedition & Fieldwork Festival for the Royal Geographical Society — a multi-day programme of lectures, panels, workshops, exhibitions and film screening - bringing together explorers, scientists, and the public to celebrate and share the latest in field research.

Marketing strategy

I developed and executed a comprehensive marketing plan that positioned the festival as a flagship RGS event, reaching both core members and new audiences. My work spanned both strategic marketing and hands-on event production, ensuring the festival launched with maximum visibility, smooth operations, and a lasting legacy.

This event strategy involved:

  • Crafted the festival brand identity and visual assets in line with RGS guidelines.

  • Designed and launched dedicated festival website pages, including schedules, speaker profiles, and ticketing information.

  • Created online exhibitions to mirror the in-person displays, enabling global audiences to engage with festival content remotely.

  • Produced high-quality print materials to guide attendees and enhance the visitor experience.

  • Built an integrated marketing campaign spanning email, social media, press outreach, and industry partnerships.

  • Created engaging digital content, including event trailers, speaker profiles, and video teasers to drive anticipation.

  • Established KPIs for reach, engagement, and ticket sales, monitoring and optimising campaigns in real time.

All these combined delivered high advance ticket sales, engagement throughout and after the festival and a distinctive festival identity that can be used for future editions.
